Every morning i make an hour drive from binghamton to cortland, it is at times exausting other times it gives me time to think about things i must do, reflect, listen to sports talk, or just relax. Someone may ask, relax?? but yea i do think driving can be relaxing aslong as relaxing doesnt mean falling asleep. I think about many things while im driving back and forth everyday, one thing i am constantly reminded of is that there are soo many bad drivers out there. Of course i think i have no flaws in my driving skills, and who doesnt? I'm glad to say, that since January, i have not recieved a speeding ticket yet, let me take a second to "knock on wood", but every morning and night when im traveling ill see someone pulled over. I know exactly where to slow down and where i might be able to get away with going a little faster, is that good? Not exactly.
Thank god for the summer, when i began classes at cortland in January i saw some pretty nasty accidents almost frequently. Its scary that i was getting used to seeing accidents during those snowstorms that many times would cross interstate 81, without warning. One minute your driving fine and the next minute you could be in a white-out situation and not being able to see 10 feet in front of you, this is when instincts take-over. Cars and 18-wheelers are swerving left and right, people hitting the guard rails, others sliding off the roads, and other times people crashing into one -another. Its scary out there and people need to take it easy especially during the winter months. I hate being late to anything, but when conditions are as bad as that people really need to "chill out" on the roads.
Another annoyance i have when im driving is people who litter, i dont get it. It makes our world disgusting. People are always throwing trash, bottles, cigarets, and papers out the window. Why cant people just keep their garbage with them until they stop next or get to thier destination to thrown it out?? You should see my car, i have soo much garbage in there since i will not litter, and when i need to i will throw that garbage out. Plus the amount of garbage people use is a whole other story i will tackle one day.
I think of myself as an enviromentalist, i try to do things the right way, as i say this i am contradicting myself though. Eniromentalists want to keep the CO2 emmissions low, and i drive 45 miles everyday where my car is emitting CO2 everytime i commute. There will be a day, the next time i have enough money, that i will purchase a hybrid car. I think its great that Gov. Arnold Swarcheneger has bought one since Cali. is trying to lower emissions.
One other thing i cant stand is AM talk radio, why does nothing come in clearly up here? I like to listen to what the sports people have to say, and for 20 min it comes in great then what happened? did someone stop putting up radio towers after whitney point?
Driving is at times annoying, but mostly it helps me wake up in the morning, it mostly stinks during the end of my day when all i want to do is lay down but first i need to make that commute and always pray for no accidents, tickets, or traffic.

I also have an hour drive, and yes, it's both annoying and relaxing.
